Flower Care

Here are ten general cut flower care instructions:

  1. Trim the stems when changing the water: Cut about two centimetres off the bottom of the stems at a 45-degree angle with a sharp knife or scissors.
  2. Use a clean vase: Wash the vase with soap and water before filling it halfway with fresh water.
  3. Remove leaves below the waterline: Clear any foliage that will be submerged in water to prevent bacterial growth.
  4. Water temperature: Fill the vase with lukewarm water, as it is easier for the flowers to absorb.
  5. Change the water regularly: Every two to three days, replace the water and trim the stems to maintain freshness.
  6. Add flower food: Use the provided flower food – one bag in 500ml of water. Stir until dissolved. You can also make your own – see my blog posts for the recipe.
  7. Avoid direct sunlight and heat: Protect your flowers from direct sunlight, drafts, and appliances emitting heat.
  8. Remove wilted flowers: Remove any faded or wilted blooms to maintain the appearance of the arrangement.
  9. Replace dead flowers with some new flowers or greenery from your garden.
  10. Enjoy them longer: Display your flowers in a cool area to extend their lifespan and enjoy their beauty for longer.

Remember, these are general care instructions, and specific flower varieties may have unique requirements. See my blog posts on specific flower care instructions.
